Scottish Rite Cathedral
A Neo-classical Revival structure, designed in 1913 by Hubbell and Greene architects with a large portico and Corinthian columns. It is the first and permanent home of Scottish Rite Freemasonry in Dallas. The Scottish Rite has been called the “University” of Freemasonry. In the Scottish Rite, Freemasons have the chance to embrace a broad and sweeping education in the morals and ethics of Freemasonry. Freedom of thought and expression are cornerstones of the Freemasonry fraternity. Self-improvement is their goal. Dallas is the largest Valley in the Southern Jurisdiction of the United States. Located in downtown Dallas at the corner of Harwood and Young Streets, the Cathedral was erected in the early 1900s by a group of Scottish Rite Masons with a great vision for the future.
