Majestic Theatre
The Majestic Theatre is a performing arts theater in downtown. It is the last remnant of Theater Row, the city's historic entertainment center on Elm Street. The Majestic Theatre Dallas was built in 1929 and boasts three balconies, black and white marble floors, twin marble stairacses, a 40 foot-deep stage, a state-of-the-art orchestra shell, statues and plenty of elaborate wall and ceiling decorations. The palatial Majestic Theatre Dallas seats 2311 patrons and was at one point the second largest theatre in the country. Today, the Majestic Theatre is a Dallas Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Given its undeniable splendor, it comes as no surprise that back in the day, the Majestic Theatre Dallas was one of the most sought after venues in the country, bringing in many of the biggest stars of that time whether in a performance capacity, or simply to appear at the premier of their latest movie. Houdini, Mae West, Jimmy Stewart, John Wayne and Gregory Peck are just a few of those featured on the Majestic Theatre schedule in the past. Today, the Majestic Theatre Dallas is used for a range of events including musicals, plays, pageants, concerts and stand-up comedy.
