Comerica Bank Tower

Comerica Bank Tower is the premier office address in Dallas. Architecturally significant, handsomely appointed and centrally located, Comerica Bank Tower is distinctive and elegant, an icon in the city's Central Business District. Comerica Bank Tower (formerly Momentum Place, Bank One Center and Chase Center) is a 60-story postmodern skyscraper located at 1717 Main Street in the Main Street District in downtown. Standing at a structural height of 787 feet, it is the third tallest skyscraper in the city of Dallas. (If the antennas and spires of Renaissance Tower were excluded, Comerica Bank Tower would be the second tallest.) It is also the sixth tallest building in Texas and the 49th tallest building in the United States. The building was designed by Philip Johnson and John Burgee and was completed in 1987. In the lobby are three kinds of marble from central Italy and Spain. Botticino Classico (an entire quarry was purchased in order to precisely book-match the marble as it was installed) adorns the walls and floors of the entry lobby and continues throughout the building in every elevator lobby and restroom. United States cherry wood production was stalled for six months while the large order was filled for construction of the five-floor banking and stock exchange hall. The 28 passenger elevator cabs are clad in one of six types of wood from around the world. Atop the building is a copper cross-vaulted roof, illuminated at night and clearly visible throughout downtown Dallas and the surrounding area.
