White Rock Lake

Known as the Jewel in the Crown of the Dallas Parks System, White Rock Lake sits about five miles northeast of Downtown Dallas. Spanning more than 1,015 acres with more than nine miles of trails surrounding it, the lake was constructed in 1911 as a water source for the city. For more than a century, the lake has been a premier getaway for Dallas residents. Today, White Rock Lake welcomes more than 1 million users a year who enjoy breathtaking views of downtown with easy accessibility from throughout North Texas. The lake is popular with wildlife, cyclists, runners, walkers, rowers, bird watchers, fishers, picnickers and other outdoors enthusiasts while it also hosts numerous cultural, sporting and others events throughout the year.
