Tenor and Contralto Status by David Newton at Fair Park
Registered as a Dallas Landmark and National Historic Landmark, Fair Park is a recreational and educational complex. Gracing the Esplanade Fountain in Fair Park are two 15-foot-tall bronze statues recreated by local sculptor David Newton to pay homage to the originals, which were at Fair Park’s opening in 1936. The original Tenor and Contralto statues were created by Laurence Tenney Stevens but disappeared and likely were melted down for the war effort during World War II.
