Pegasus in front of Omni Dallas Hotel
After flying high above the Dallas skyline for more than 60 years, the landmark Pegasus, The Flying Red Horse, finally succumbed to the elements and had to be brought back to earth. Omni Dallas developer Matthews Southwest searched and finally discovered them in a city-owned shed near White Rock Lake. A team worked on restoring and designing the new rotating Pegasus, which includes the original horses set on top of a 22-foot oil derrick in front of the city-owned Omni Dallas Hotel, a fitting landing place for the horses since it showcases more than 7,000 pieces of original, iconic Dallas art by 150 local artists throughout its guestrooms, public spaces, culinary venues and common areas.
