Bishop Arts District
One of Dallas’s most unique neighborhoods in the heart of North Oak Cliff, the Bishop Arts District features more than 60 independent boutiques, restaurants, bars, coffee shops and art galleries. A neighborhood rich in history, the area originally was developed with warehouses and shops in the 1920s and welcomed the busiest trolley stop in the 1930s. Although the district declined throughout the mid-1960s through the early 1980s with the rise of shopping malls and the decline of streetcars and trolleys, the 1990s and 2000s have brought a resurgence of renovations that have transformed the two city blocks into a walkable, urban environment that is projected to spread to the surrounding area. Murals, brick pavers and other street elements have polished the rough look of the area and made it a popular leisure and dining destination.
