Edith O'Donnell Arts and Technology Building at the University of Texas at Dallas
An innovative institution in North Texas on the path to achieving Tier 1 national research university status, the University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) has grown since 1969 to include 133 degree programs, with cutting-edge curricula in a variety of disciplines. UT Dallas is committed to providing some of the state’s most lauded science and engineering programs and has gained prominence for its breadth of educational paths, ranging from criminology to biomedical engineering to arts and technology. UT Dallas students benefits from the university’s wealth of learning resources and effort to attract the top minds in the world. Since 2005, the faculty has featured a Nobel laureate, four National Academies members and more than 500 tenured and tenure-track professors hailing from the world’s best colleges. UT Dallas also is home to numerous centers, labs and institutes that facilitate research and opportunities for hands-on learning. Named in 2013 in honor of Edith Jones O’Donnell, the Arts and Technology Building at the University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) boasts 155,000 square feet. Costing $60 million to build (20 percent of materials were recycled), the new building features an anechoic chamber, 3D art studios, a recording studio, a motion-capture lab and other classrooms for arts and technology. The Edith O’Donnell Arts and Technology Building was selected by the Nasher Sculpture Center as part of a 10-location exhibit called the Nasher XChange.
