Residential Commons Complex and Mustang Band Hall at Southern Methodist University
The Residential Commons Complex at Southern Methodist University (SMU) enables all first- and second-year students to live on campus. The nine-acre complex includes five residence halls—Armstrong Commons, Kathy Crow Commons, Crum Commons, Loyd Commons and Ware Commons—as well as the Anita and Truman Arnold Dining Commons and the 800-space Mustang Parking Center. Each five-story residence hall in the complex houses 250 students, a residence life director and a faculty member in residence who serves as a mentor and intellectual leader for the community and has the opportunity to teach a class or host study sessions in the classroom within each commons residence. One of the Southern Methodist University’s (SMU’s) oldest and most treasured organizations, the Mustang Band is the hub of SMU spirit. Its rich and storied traditions are a source of inspiration and pride for everyone at SMU. Delighting spectators across the nation with memorable and creative performances, the band is one of SMU’s most important ambassadors as the embodiment of the university’s drive and determination. The Mustang Band makes its home in the Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports, which is located prominently in the southeast quadrant of campus along with the Residential Commons Complex, the SMU tennis complex and the George W. Bush Presidential Center.
