I-35 East and DART Light Rail System

Interstate 35 in Dallas (I-35 Dallas) is one of the major highway routes and traffic corridors through the metropolitan Dallas area in a general north-south and northwesterly-southeast direction. In Dallas, it is also known as I-35East and in Fort Worth I-35West because it splits into east and west sections as it approaches metroplex area. Sections of I-35 in the Dallas area are also known as the Stemmons Freeway and the RL Thornton Freeway. Transporting locals and visitors around Dallas and 12 surrounding cities, the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) is a modern public transit system that includes the DART Light Rail. Traversing 85 miles between its four lines—Red Line, Blue Line, Green Line and Orange Line, it is the longest light rail system in the United States. The system has 115 Super Light Rail Vehicles, which feature level boarding and higher passenger capacity. In terms of ridership, it is the largest light rail system in the Southern United States and the seventh largest in the country.
