Southfork Ranch

When it was chosen for the 1978–91 CBS TV series Dallas as well as its 2012 continuation on TNT, Southfork Ranch became recognizable by millions of viewers across the United States and in 95 foreign countries. The ranch’s high profile on television quickly made the beautiful white mansion, pool, barns and surroundings a tourist mecca. The original owner and his family were in residence at Southfork when filming began, but tourism made it increasingly hard to live privately in the city’s leading visitor attraction. In 1985, Southfork Ranch opened to the public as strictly a tourist attraction and event location.
