Dallas Zoo

Founded in 1888, the Dallas Zoo is the oldest and largest zoological park in Texas. Beginning with just two deer and two mountain lions in City Park, the zoo later moved to Fair Park in 1909, but quickly outgrew this second home and moved in 1912 to its current location in Marsalis Park. Numerous upgrades and collection expansions have occurred in the past 100 years; today the Dallas Zoo is home to more than 2,000 animals and is thriving with new exhibits like the Koala Walkabout presented by Kimberly-Clark Corporation; SOAR, A Festival of Flight; and the Giants of the Savanna.
