Collin County Courthouse at McKinney
A picturesque city with a small-town feel, McKinney sits just 30 miles north of Downtown Dallas. Noted for its friendly charm, green spaces and comfortable pace have made it one of the fastest-growing cities in America. McKinney has one of the oldest authentic and thriving historic downtowns in Texas with a district that offers more than 100 unique shops—including specialty shops, art galleries, furniture stores, exquisite antique collections, gifts and home décor and apparel boutiques—and more than a dozen unique restaurants. Representing a time in McKinney when cotton was king and the land was rich, the historic Collin County Courthouse began as an 1874-76 Second Empire French-style building before its 1927 renovation in the Neo-Classical Revival style. The classical Greek elements, such as Ionic columns, embody democratic government ideals of equality and justice with all entrances having equal access to the court. Restored in 2006, today the Old Courthouse serves as the McKinney Performing Arts Center.
