The Mustangs of Las Colinas
A massive bronze sculpture in Williams Square in Las Colinas, Mustangs at Las Colinas by Robert Glen is said to be the largest equestrian sculpture in the world. Commemorating the wild mustangs historically important to inhabitants of Texas, the sculpture portrays a group of nine larger-than-life mustangs running through a watercourse with fountains giving the effect of water being splashed up by the animals’ hooves. The horses represent the drive, initiative and unfettered lifestyle that was fundamental to Texas in its pioneer days. Dedicated on September 25, 1984, the sculpture sits adjacent to the Mustangs of Las Colinas Museum located in East Tower at Williams Square Plaza. The museum offers exhibits and a film about the work’s creation and additional sculptures by Robert Glen.
