Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden
Located on the southeastern shore of White Rock Lake, the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden contains a series of gardens and fountains with views of the lake and the Downtown Dallas skyline. Much of the garden was once part of the 44-acre Rancho Encinal estate of geophysicist Everette Lee DeGolyer and his wife Nell whose interests included her extensive flower gardens. The DeGolyer Home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and the former estate has formed the largest portion of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens since 1976. The addition of the adjacent Alex and Roberta Coke Camp estate increased the size of the grounds to 66 acres.
