Museum of Natural History

Founded in 1936 as part of the Texas Centennial Exhibition, the Museum of Natural History is located in the historic Fair Park district. A Smithsonian Institution member facility, the Museum of Natural History is the only public natural history museum in the region. Its mission is to promote a greater understanding and appreciation of the natural world through collections-based research, educational programs and exhibitions. Although it has always been and will be located in Fair Park, the museum today has been consolidated with the former Dallas Museum of Natural History building in Victory Park; together the museums are called the Perot Museum of Nature and Science.
