Klyde Warren Park with the AT&T Performing Arts Center and the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center
Located on the edge of the Arts District between Downtown Dallas and Uptown, Klyde Warren Park is an urban park that stretches three city blocks between Pearl and St. Paul streets on top of the below-grade Woodall Rodgers Freeway. A central gathering space for Dallas and its visitors, Klyde Warren Park is a highly active space that offers jogging trails, a dog park, children’s playground, restaurant, performance stage, fountains, an area for games and more. Spanning the entire length of the park, Jane’s Lane is a 25-foot-wide lighted granite allée lined with red oaks, wooden benches and arches perfect for jogging or strolling. Originally the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts, the AT&T Performing Arts Center is a multi-venue facility in the Arts District that showcases performances of opera; musical, classic and experimental theatre; and ballet and other forms of dance. Opened in October 2009, the different portions of the center were designed by three major architectural firms: Foster and Partners (London), the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (Rotterdam and New York) and REX (New York). Located in the Arts District of Downtown Dallas, the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center is ranked as the world’s greatest orchestra hall. Designed jointly by renowned architect I.M. Pei and acoustician Russell Johnson’s Artec Consultants, Inc., the symphony center is named for Morton H. Meyerson, an arts patron and business partner of Ross Perot, who provided $10 million for its construction. The permanent home of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Dallas Symphony Chorus, the Meyerson Symphony Center is owned and managed by the Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs and is the primary performing venue of the Dallas Wind Symphony and several other Dallas-based music organizations.
